Synopsis:

One of two 30 second retromodern animations written and directed by studio team member Nick Lennox, and produced at ink.digital as part of the Pocket Shorts mobile content scheme in May 2008.

Extended Description:

Wind Up Willie tells the story of Willie, an honest hard working guy who's life is made considerably harder by the fact that he has a key in his back that needs to be wound up in order to keep him going. This has made Willie's life difficult at times as everything he does, from the simple mundane day-to-day tasks to the more excitable, high-octane activities Willie enjoys so much, inevitably results in failure or humiliation.

Wind Up Willie is a one-gag idea with the humour coming from the situation the character finds himself in.

As the series evolves, humour comes from the audience's anticipation of what's to come; they just don't know how it will unfold!  Parallels exist in the killing of South Park's Kenny and Bob Godfrey's 'Many Deaths of Norman Spittle'.

The animation style is being fairly dynamic and the gags will try to emulate the visual humour of early silent films such as Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy. The visual style is simple, bold and bright with minimal backgrounds.
